For iPhone and iPad · iOS 18 or later
KeyCodeNavigator keeps the access codes for the places you visit, shows you the right one when you arrive, and shares a place with the people you choose. Answers to common questions are below. If you still need help, email us.
New to the app? Watch the how-to videos: six short guides, from adding a property to the arrival alert.
Contact support
Email info@vizslatech.app. The quickest way is Settings → Help & Support → Email support in the app: it adds the app version and the settings alerts depend on, which usually shows the problem straight away. It never includes your codes or addresses. We aim to reply within two business days.
Common questions
Someone sent me an invite. How do I add it?
Tap the link on your iPhone or iPad. If you have KeyCodeNavigator, it opens there: tap Add to my places. If you don't, tap Get KeyCodeNavigator on the page, which also copies your invite. Install the app, open it, tap I received an invite, then tap Paste. Each link works on one device only, so please don't forward it. Invites expire after 7 days.
Do I need a plan to receive shared codes?
No. Places people share with you are free to receive, always, with no sign-up or subscription. You get every code and document they chose for you, kept up to date. A plan adds arrival alerts and lets you add and share your own places.
What happens when the person who shared a place stops sharing it?
If they pause your updates, your copy stays as it is and says No longer updated. If they remove you, the place comes off your phone the next time the app connects. If they let you keep a copy, it stays, but it no longer updates.
Can I share with someone who has an Android phone?
Not yet. KeyCodeNavigator is an iPhone and iPad app, so the person you share with needs one to add the place.
Why didn't an alert come when I arrived?
Arrival alerts come with a plan or the free trial. They also need all of these on your iPhone or iPad:
- Settings → KeyCodeNav → Location set to Always, with Precise Location on;
- Notifications allowed for KeyCodeNav;
- Background App Refresh on.
The app's Settings screen warns you when location or notifications aren't set up. Low Power Mode can delay alerts. The alert comes once you've stopped near the place, so if you park far from the map pin, move the pin to where you park, or give that place a larger alert distance when you edit it.
Does a place need a street address?
No. When you add a place, tap No street address? Drop a pin instead., give the spot a name ("Back pasture gate," "Storage unit 214") and drop the pin on the map. The arrival alert works the same way.
Why doesn't the code show on my lock screen?
In the app, turn on Settings → Notifications → Show codes in notifications. Then, on your iPhone, go to Settings → Notifications → KeyCodeNav → Show Previews and choose Always. With "When Unlocked" (the iPhone's usual default) iOS hides the code until the phone is unlocked; with "Never" it stays off the lock screen. The app's Settings screen tells you which one is set and opens that page for you. Tapping the alert always opens the codes.
Can I add documents to a place and share them?
Yes, with a plan or the free trial. On a place, tap Add document and choose From Files, From Photos, Scan with camera or Paste. Documents are encrypted on your phone. When you share the place, tap the documents you want that person to have; documents start unselected, so nothing goes by accident. Each document can be up to 25 MB. Every photo you share goes without its location and camera details, and photos larger than 2560 pixels are resized, unless Settings → Sharing → Send photos at original quality is on, which sends photos untouched. If you rename or remove a document later, their copy follows. Tap the pencil on a document to rename it; the name you choose is the name the other person sees.
Why does the app need my location all the time?
So it can notice you pulling up to a saved place while the app is closed. Your location is used on your device and is never sent to us. While you search for an address, it's sent to Google so nearby addresses come first. The app asks for location only once you start a plan or the free trial; if you only receive shared places, it never asks. See the
privacy policy for details.
Where are my codes stored? Are they backed up?
On your device, encrypted. There's no sign-up and no account on a server, so your places don't move between your own devices. When you share a place, or someone shares one with you, it travels encrypted through KeyCodeNavigator's server, which can't read it, and is kept there only until the other phone has it, normally within minutes (see the
privacy policy for the limits). Your data may be included in your device's iCloud or computer backup, and comes back when you restore that backup onto a new device.
I forgot my password.
Unlock with Face ID, Touch ID or your iPhone passcode instead. If none of them works, the password can't be recovered, because we never have a copy. Deleting the app removes its places and codes from this phone. Places you shared stay on the other people's phones with the codes they have, so change those codes.
What does Log out do?
It locks the app. Your places, codes and password all stay, and you unlock again to see them.
What does a plan include, and what does it cost?
A plan adds arrival alerts and lets you add, edit and share your own places, codes and documents. There are two plans, Monthly and Annual. Without a plan, the app shows their prices in your country, and the free trial's length while you can still get it, in
Settings → Subscription. New subscribers get a free trial, one per Apple Account. When the trial ends, your plan renews automatically at its price until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or a renewal ends to avoid being charged. The plans are compared on the home page, under
Pricing.
I have a plan. How do I get it on a new device or after reinstalling?
Sign in with the same Apple Account and tap Restore Purchases, in Settings → Subscription or on the plans screen. It brings back an active Monthly or Annual plan, including a free trial in progress.
How do I cancel my plan or the free trial?
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions → KeyCodeNav → Cancel Subscription. In the app, Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription takes you to the same place. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the free trial or the current period ends; you keep your plan until then. Places shared with you stay free either way. Deleting the app, or deleting your account in the app, doesn't cancel a subscription.
How do I delete my account and all data?
In Settings, at the bottom: Delete account and all data…. It deletes every place, code and document and the way you unlock the app from this phone, and takes the places you share off other people's phones. It doesn't cancel a subscription: do that in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Privacy
Your codes stay encrypted on your device. When you share a place, it travels end-to-end encrypted and is kept only until it's delivered. Read the full privacy policy.
